Performance of Structural Engineering services for the inspection, evaluation and preparation of report related to the metal storage racks at an existing warehouse facility. The metal rack system included a total of twenty-nine (29) double racks, consisting of high, low, and combined intermediate high and low racks.


The structural engineering services consisted of following:


  • Site visits for observation of the structural conditions of the existing storage metal racks including the rack framing system, shelving system and supports, and the column base anchorage system at the concrete floor slab.


  • Evaluation of the observed field conditions and structural deficiencies.


  • Review of the existing rack system based on the rack manufacturer’s technical information and discussion of the proposed corrective measures with the manufacturer.


  • Preparation of report including the recommendations for the performance of the required corrective measures for the rack system, consisting of the replacement of the damaged structural parts and components, replacement of the damaged shelving and support system, addition of the required anchors at the column bases, addition of column guards at all column bases for protection against forklift truck impact, posting of safety signs and recommended periodic condition inspections per applicable codes and guidelines.
