The Theresa Banks Aquatics Center is a   community recreational facility with an approximate area of 32,000 square   feet which consists of a large indoor swimming pool, and spa/hot tub   areas.  Portions of the existing deteriorated structural steel framing members and damaged exterior masonry walls were repaired, replaced, and reinforced due to their age and exposure to moisture. Temporary shoring and bracing of portions   of the structure was required for performance of the construction work.


  • The scope of structural engineering services consisted of field investigation and evaluation of the existing structural deterioration and defects, preparation of construction documents for the repairs, replacement, and reinforcement of the existing deteriorated and damaged structural   components of the building, including the structural steel and masonry   portions of the structure, and coordination of the work with the architect   and the owner.


  • The corrective work involved the removal, repair and/or replacement of the existing deteriorated and damaged portions of the masonry and structural steel framing members along the exterior walls, lintels, and steel column bases of the existing building primarily. Temporary shoring and bracing were required for performance of the work.


  • Construction phase services including the preparation of responses to the contractor’s questions and review of shop   drawings submittals were provided.
